The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is hosting its 19th Headquarters-level Industry Interaction Group Open House in New Delhi on September 25 as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between defence researchers and industry.
The programme is being held at DRDO Bhawan from 11 am to 1 pm. It provides an opportunity for representatives from the defence industry to interact with DRDO officials and raise issues related to technology development and collaboration.
The Industry Interaction Group programme is designed to improve coordination between DRDO and companies working in the defence technology sector. Discussions are intended to address concerns faced by industry and identify areas where cooperation can be strengthened.
Greater participation of private industry has become an important part of India’s defence technology development strategy. Industry partnerships can support the movement of technologies from research and development stages towards production and wider deployment.
The interaction programme also provides a platform for companies to understand opportunities available through DRDO’s technology development ecosystem.
The current open house is part of a wider DRDO programme that runs from September 18 to 26. The organisation has been engaging with industry through such programmes to improve communication and develop stronger links between research institutions and defence manufacturers.
The initiative comes at a time when India is focusing on increasing domestic development and production of defence technologies.
The interaction between researchers and industry is expected to help identify practical challenges and improve coordination in areas involving indigenous defence technologies, manufacturing and future requirements of the armed forces.
